Introduction to V3Link Serializers
V3Link Serializer are high-speed interface conversion devices based on MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY physical layer protocols. Designed to address bandwidth bottlenecks, routing congestion, and signal integrity issues associated with multi-channel parallel signal transmission, they are widely used in applications requiring high transmission rates and reliability, such as high-definition image transmission, high-speed data acquisition, automotive sensing, and industrial vision.
V3Link Serializer Advantages
Compared to traditional parallel interface solutions, V3Link serializers encode and packetize multiple low-speed parallel digital signals into 1–4 high-speed differential serial signal groups for transmission. This significantly reduces the number of signal lines required for the transmission link and minimizes PCB routing space while reducing crosstalk between signals, thereby maintaining stable signal quality over longer distances. In applications such as camera modules, display interfaces, and radar data transmission, these devices simplify hardware design and help control the overall bill of materials (BOM) cost.
Regarding V3Link serializer technology
Technically, V3Link Serializer support dual-mode compatibility (C-PHY and D-PHY) to meet various transmission speed requirements. In D-PHY mode, they support aggregate transmission bandwidths of up to several Gbps, meeting the stability needs for standard 1080P and 2K resolution image transmission. In C-PHY mode, transmission bandwidth is further increased to support high-speed image data streams at 4K or even 8K resolutions. Additionally, the number of lanes is flexibly configurable-allowing for 1, 2, 3, or 4-lane transmission based on specific application needs-to balance bandwidth and cost requirements. Most V3Link serializers feature integrated Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) circuitry, eliminating the need to transmit a separate clock signal and further simplifying routing. They also support functions such as link status monitoring and error retransmission, enhancing transmission reliability in complex industrial environments.
Specific V3Link serializer models
The TSER9615 serializer is part of the TI V3Link Enhanced Vision series, designed to support ultra-high-speed data sensors such as 8MP+ imagers, satellite radar, LiDAR, and Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors. This serializer provides a 7.55 Gbps forward channel and an ultra-low-latency 47.1875 Mbps bidirectional control channel, while supporting power delivery over a single coaxial (PoC) or STP cable. When operating in enhanced vision mode, the TSER9615 offers a choice of three data rates: 7.55 Gbps, 3.775 Gbps, and 1.8875 Gbps. The TSER9615 features advanced data protection and diagnostic capabilities. When paired with a companion deserializer, it enables precise multi-camera sensor clocking and synchronization.
The TSER9615 operates over a wide temperature range of –20°C to 85°C. Housed in a compact 5 mm × 5 mm VQFN package, the serializer is suitable for space-constrained sensor applications.
